This technique demonstrates the ability to perform complex list selection in a generic and portable fashion in a multi user environment while still presenting the user with a nice GUI. Additionally, it simulates the way in which an OS allows selection of multiple files using either ctrl key to select or deselect a single row (or mac equivalent) or the shift key to select between a number of rows.
