In this video, I want to start our conversation about scripting within the FileMaker platform. Now a FileMaker script is basically a computer program with specific steps that tell FileMaker to do specific things. So, for example, you say I want to print or I want to sort records. I want to go to a certain report and find certain people and sort that information, then print it, then come back. That’s a great example of a very common task that people want to build within their FileMaker application. Now, lot of brand new FileMaker users and developers are afraid of scripts. They try to stay away from scripts, and certainly I kind of understand this. If you don’t have a background in programming, they might be a little intimidating. But don’t let that throw you off their very powerful and they’re very easy to write and understand.
